Set yourself up to achieve. It can seem overwhelming to enroll in school and finance your education. But have no fear – from transfer credits to financial aid, your team of advisors will be there for you every step of the way.

Financial Services

Paying for school can be a challenge. You’ll have help to navigate your way through all the paperwork. Start by speaking with a Financial Services Advisor, who will walk you through each step of the process, and answer any questions you may have.

Choose from several different payment options. You may use any of the following options to fund your online degree program:

Cash Plan

For students who select the cash plan as a primary payment option, 100 percent of tuition and any applicable fees are to be paid on or before each course start date. You may have your tuition and fees automatically charged to your credit card (debit cards are not accepted). Automatic credit card payments are charged on the start date of each course; otherwise, full payment must be received on or before the start date of each course. Your credit card information will be requested in order to establish credit for this plan.

Tuition Reimbursement

You may select this option if your employer reimburses at least 50 percent of your annual tuition. Tuition is deferred a maximum of 90 days after each course/term start date, regardless of when you receive payment from your employer. Applicable fees are due on or before the start date of each course. To qualify, you must submit a signed Tuition Reimbursement Certification and Authorization Form and include a valid credit card number (debit cards are not accepted) with authorization to charge the card.

Direct Bill Plan (Third Party Billing)

You may have your tuition and fees billed directly to your employer (Third Party Agency) if they have a Direct Bill Memorandum of Understanding on file with Ashford University. The Third-Party Agency must offer a tuition benefit of at least $2,500 annually for you to be eligible for this option. This option requires you to fill out a Direct Bill Certification and Authorization form, which your Admissions Counselor can provide for you.

Military Tuition Assistance

If you are active duty, a drilling reservist, or a member of the National Guard, you may be eligible to receive Tuition Assistance (TA). Any tuition and applicable fees not covered by the TA program must be paid prior to the start date of each course. To determine your eligibility for TA, please contact your Education Service Officer (ESO) for details. If you are a reservist or National Guard personnel, you should also seek any tuition assistance or reimbursement that your respective employers may offer.

Financial Aid

Financial aid may take the form of federal and state grants and loans. Fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility. There is no charge, and you do not have to be admitted to apply; however, you must be enrolled before your funds will be applied toward tuition and fees. You should apply as early as possible, even if you don’t plan to start until late in the year. Ashford University’s school code is 001881. You will need this code in order for Ashford University to receive the information you submit.

Veterans Benefits

If you can provide a copy of your DD-214, 22-1990, or 22-1995 you may be eligible for education benefits under the GI Bill®. You will be responsible for self-certifying at the end of every month to prove your attendance at Ashford University. Once your benefit status has been determined, talk to a Military Admissions Counselor to learn how to apply your benefits toward your Bachelor’s degree at Ashford.

The GI Bill (Chapter 33) or "Post-9/11 GI Bill," boasts the most comprehensive education benefits package since the original GI Bill was signed into law in 1944. This benefit went into effect August 1, 2009. If you are eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other GI Bill benefits such as the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) you will at some point be required to make an irrevocable choice of which benefit you wish to receive.

There are many things to consider before choosing which benefit you wish to receive and whether or not to participate in the Active Duty or Reserve GI Bill programs. Consider your preferred type of training, and the amount you receive under each benefit, when making your choice.

Even if you are one of our 7,000 military students using tuition assistance benefits, this new legislation will negatively impact you upon separation or retirement, as it does not take into account the 64 percent of the active duty force who currently prefer to study online. Ashford University encourages everyone currently under Chapter 30 benefits to carefully compare and choose before switching to Chapter 33.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Ashford University is a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The Yellow Ribbon program is a voluntary agreement between Veterans Affairs and the University that allows eligible students (current and newly admitted) to have 100 percent tuition covered. The Yellow Ribbon benefits include a 50/50 grant between Veterans Affairs and the University to cover any tuition and required fee charges. The grant will be applied after Post-9/11 GI Bill® funds, equaling 100 percent tuition coverage for you. The grant is applicable only during the University's participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Grant terms and coverage amounts are subject to change every academic year.
Tuition grants will be applied for courses with future start dates following full authorization status from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Continuing Yellow Ribbon students will have course materials covered. Any applicable fees not covered by this grant must be paid in accordance with the terms of the selected finance option(s) as stated in the student's enrollment agreement.

Who is eligible? Only individuals entitled to the maximum Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit rate (based on service requirements) are eligible for Yellow Ribbon funding. Therefore, you may be eligible if:

You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001; and
You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria listed above.

To qualify for the Yellow Ribbon program, you must:

Have served 36 months on active duty in the United States military after September 10, 2001 thus making you 100 pecent eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Submit an application for the Post-9/11 GI Bill to the Department of Veterans Affairs online at www.va.gov and provide a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to your Admissions Counselor.
Obtain admission to Ashford University.
Remain enrolled or return as scheduled from an approved break. Should you lose eligibility for not maintaining continuous enrollment, any future grant benefit(s) will be forfeited. Online students must remain enrolled without breaks in attendance greater than 14 days. If you plan to take a break in attendance that is greater than 14 days from your last date of attendance but less than 45 days from the end of the course you last attended, then you must provide a written confirmation of your intent to return. Providing this documentation will ensure that you are not administratively withdrawn or forfeit grant benefits, provided you return as scheduled.
